Ketogenic Liquid Diet Plan: Will this work?
I am a reasonably healthy, but fat 30 year old male. I have no health problems aside from being fat, and pre-diabetic. My A1C was 6.1, and I would like to loose weight, and improve my insulin sensitivity. I am 5ft 6inches tall, and I weigh about 205 pounds, at an estimated 32% bodyfat (electronic fat monitor).
I believe that a Ketogenic Diet is the best solution to my problem. However, I have started the Ketogenic Diet, and “relapsed” multiple times. The longest I have been able to do is about a month straight. I’ve started and stopped about 5 times now. The main reason I keep “relapsing,” is that paying for fresh fatty meats and vegetables gets expensive, I have trouble keeping track of my macro-nutrients, and it is difficult to regularly do grocery shopping. I think that no matter what I do, I end up eating too much protien, which probably drives up my glucose/insulin response.
But… I got a crazy idea, that… just might work, and I wanted some input from you to see if this makes sense.
So… Heavy Whipping Cream, is basically PURE FAT, and a single tablespoon is 50 calories. All of which come from fat.
What I was thinking was… three times a day (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner) I make myself a shake.
The shake would have exactly 8 tablespoons of Heavy Whipping Cream (400 Fat Calories), it would have exactly 1 Scoop of Vanilla IsoPure Protien Powder (Exactly 25 grams or 100 calories of Protien) (IsoPure is a protein powder that has ZERO Carbs, 0 fat, and has lots of vitamins and nutrients), about 6-8 ounces of Water, and exactly 2 strawberries and 2 raspberries (3-4 grams of Carbs). I would toss it all in a blender, and make myself a Keto-Smoothy
Taken 3 times a day… I would end up with 1200 Fat Calories, 225 Protien Calories, and under 11 grams or about 40 calories coming from Carbs per day, which adds up to 1465 Calories per day. Maintaining the 75-80% FAT, 20-25% Protein, and Less than 5% Carbohydrate Ketogenic Guidelines.
Additionally, I would take a multivitamin, Omega 3 &6 Fatty Acid Supplements, a Cal-Mag Supplement, and Potassium Supplement. I would also drink reasonable amounts of water, and add about 1-2 teaspoons of Salt (Sodium) to my water daily.
Theoretically, this would maintain ideal vitamin and electrolyte levels, Meet all my Macro-Nutrient Levels, Not be too calorie Deficient, and keep me in Ketosis.
Obviously, my main objective is weight loss, but I also just think Ketogenic Diet Eating has a myriad of Health Benefits. I was thinking of doing this Liquid version of the Ketogenic Diet I invented for 40 days, as a jump start to my weight loss. Afterwards, I would try to go back to a normal ketogenic diet, eating mainly fatty meats, eggs, butter, oil, and low-carb vegetables.
