- Strict carb limits (usually about 25g of net carbs)
- Can’t eat common foods (no bread, pasta, rice, or deserts)
- Hidden carbs (artificial sweeteners & deceptive ingredient names)
- Keto flu (the uncomfortable adaptation phase)
Adhering to the keto diet means making sacrifices. High carb foods just aren’t an option. NO bread, NO pasta, NO rice, and definitely NO sugary desserts. Soda, sports drinks, and fruit juices are also off limits. Any of these common foods will easily kick your body out of ketosis and put you back to square one.
Even if you’re cutting out high carb foods there is still something else waiting to sabotage your best efforts. HIDDEN CARBS. Food manufacturers know that a lot of people would prefer to eat less sugar and reduce carbs in their diets. That’s one reason why ingredient labels have become so confusing.
Sugars are hidden in ingredient labels by using names like sucralose, fructose, corn syrup, dextrose and about 100 other names. What’s worse is that their synthetic zero-calorie alternatives can be just as bad for you. Learning to spot and avoid hidden carbs take time and effort but it’s crucial is you’re going to do keto right.
Let’s say you’ve made the commitment. You’re counting carbs and have thrown out ALL of the foods you can’t eat. You’ve studied up on hidden carbs and carefully read every ingredient label before you buy.
Maybe you’ve maintained your keto diet for the first week or two, but instead of an energy boost and mental clarity you feel sluggish and foggy . You might even feel a headache coming on. Did you catch something? Are you sick? Not necessarily. You’re probably experiencing what keto dieters call the “Keto Flu”.
Most of us are used to eating a LOT of carbs every day and our bodies have become used to carbs as our main fuel source. The keto diet removes carbs from the diet so our bodies are forced to learn to burn fat as fuel. This learning process or adaptation phase can be quite uncomfortable for some of us.
The worst part is that even after you get through the keto flu and passed the adaptation phase it only takes one poor food choice or a lapse in judgement or will-power to kick you right out of ketosis. This is why many keto dieters fail. No one is eager to start over and experience the keto flu again to get back into ketosis.
How can anyone possibly avoid all of these mistakes and maintain ketosis? There has to be something to make keto easier.
Simply put, ketosis is when your body begins to use fat as its primary fuel source. This is done by breaking down fats into ketones that can be used for energy throughout the body. Ketones can even cross the blood-brain barrier to provide the brain with energy much like carbohydrates. However, unlike carbohydrates, ketones provide a much steadier source of energy. This means NO sugar high followed by a crash in energy.
However, for our bodies to get enough ketones to remain in ketosis we have to carefully adhere to a keto diet and avoid the many pitfalls…Or Maybe NOT
What if you could skip the adaptation phase and jump right into keto? Swing past the keto flu and start using ketones for energy. Well… YOU CAN!
You can by taking an exogenous ketones supplement. Ketones supplements are forms of the ketone called beta-hydroxybutyrate or BHB which your body creates on its own during ketosis. By taking a ketones or BHB supplement you can easily give your body a boost of ketones to remain in ketosis or for extra energy or mental sharpness.
Busy professionals can also use exogenous ketones without following the keto diet for a quick boost and mental edge.
A good ketones supplement should use tested, high quality ingredients. You also shouldn’t have to pay for overhyped marketing. Expensive celebrity influencers only make products cost more.
This is why we set out to create our own keto supplement called BHBoost. We found a blend of Beta-Hydroxybutyrate ketones called BHB. This powerful keto formula contains 800mg of bio-identical ketones to the ketones our bodies produce through natural ketogenesis. BHBoost is also stimulant-free to avoid that jittery feeling.
Just take 2 capsules once a day with a meal to to experience many of the same benefits the keto diet provides.
